We are in Northborough at 37 Pierce Street.
How do I use the pantry for the first time?
You can come to the pantry when we are open, sign in on the client sign in sheet, and tell the volunteers you need to register for the first time. You will be asked to provide proof of residency in Northborough (copy of your lease, tax bill, utility bill or driver's license that has a Northborough street address). You will also be asked to complete forms that ask about your family situation and resources. Our volunteers maintain a high level of confidentiality about our clients and their visits to the pantry. You will be given a certain number of shopping bags depending on the number of people in your household. You will use these bags to shop at the pantry. You may shop at the pantry once a week.
The pantry is open on Wednesdays from 9-10:30am and Thursdays from 6:30-8pm. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to closing and sign in at each visit. If you need to bring your children, please supervise them closely while you wait to shop.
The food pantry is closed on Wednesday mornings if it is a snow day for the Northborough Public Schools. If it is a snow day on Thursday, and the weather improves by evening, call the pantry at (508)393-6897 after 6:30 PM to see if the volunteers have been able to open the pantry. Please refer to your local news for school closings.
When is the pantry not open as usual for client shopping?
When Northborough Public Schools are closed for snow, the pantry will be closed if it is a Wednesday. If it snows on a Thursday and weather improves during the day, call us at 508-393-6897 after 6:30pm to see if we are able to open. We are also closed the weeks a major holiday falls on a Wednesday or Thursday. These dates are posted on our website.
Does the pantry provide hot meals?
We do not provide hot meals. The pantry provides non-perishable foods, meat/chicken, eggs, dairy products, often fruits, vegetables and bread to our clients. The Community Meals Program hosted by the Trinity Church in Northborough (sponsored by the Interfaith Clergy Association) serves a hot dinner every Wednesday at 6pm, free of charge.
Please go to our volunteer link at the top of the page and complete a volunteer application. You will see the volunteer assignments available at the pantry at this time.
